2018 Total Archery Challenge Hits Snowbird, Utah, and We're There to Check It Out

One of the most exciting archery shoots of the year is officially underway.

Summer is a busy time of year for everyone, but smart folks make a point to shoot their bow.

And for those who shoot and are looking for an exciting trip, they've finally got an awesome option in the Total Archery Challenge.

Every year they have shoots in several different locations, like Big Sky, Montana; 7 Springs, Pennsylvania; Terry Peak, South Dakota; and Snowbird, Utah, which is the actual birthplace of the event.

This year, I'm lucky enough to attend the event, watching as shooters trek a five-hour course and test their archery skills to the max. In fact, they have the different main archery ranges for different styles of shooters.

Here's a list of them:

  • Prime Course (toughest course but a lot of fun) - Rocky Mountain Western Shoot, 40-100 yds with steep angles and tougher shots.
  • Mtn OPS Course- 25-75 yds with steep angles and good shots that test your skill.
  • Sitka Course Long shots, 60-100 yds, on Sheep, Mountain Goat and other awesome species.   This course is designed to live up to the demands of the Sitka Gear hunting apparel lines.

But just like any good venue, there's so much more to do than just shooting the courses. This year, the Utah event is jam packed with events. Saturday morning includes a Cameron Hanes 'Keep Hammering' Trail Run presented by MTN OPS and Hoyt Archery. In the evening, there's a Backcountry Hunters and Anglers Party packed with prizes.

If you're in the area, grab your bow, see what all of the great sponsors have to show you, and check out all the events!

While I'm in the Salt Lake City area, I'll be touring MTN OPS' new headquarters and workout facility. Keep an eye out on Wide Open Spaces for a sneak peak before a full behind the scenes look at MTN OPS.
