Garmin's Panoptix LiveScope racks up ICAST's "Best Of" award for the electronics category.
The undisputed winner in the 2018 ICAST New Product Showcase Award for Best of Show has been announced, and anyone with knowledge on the Panoptix LiveScope from Garmin is left unsurprised. If you've hit the water with its live scanning sonar images, you've seen what it can do.
Having already wrapped up the award for Best of Category - Electronics, the Panoptix was announced as the winner at 2:00 p.m. during the ICAST show in Orlando, Florida.
The idea behind LiveScope brings the technology as close to real time as it's ever been, which pros, amateurs, and even weekend anglers just looking for a little productive outdoor recreation are commenting on the results.
Even down to the species level, Panoptix LiveScope is said to let you pinpoint what exactly is swimming beneath you, and be able to make decisions quick enough to see an effect.
Here's a good breakdown of this amazing sonar technology.
The Garmin Panoptix LiveScope scanning sonar system comes with a compact GLS 10 sonar black box with one LVS32 transducer, which allows for the dynamics of both LiveScope Down and LiveScope Forward Mode. With the plug-and-play Garmin Marine Network connector, it's easy to install and seamlessly integrate with any compatible Garmin chartplotter.
The real-time scanning sonar utilizes an advanced Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS), which stabilizes the sonar view even if there's rough conditions.
When you can actually see the fish swimming, and know what direction they're going, you've got to assume that's giving you an advantage over other systems. Bass fishing, for all of us, has been enhanced by the things like the trolling motor, the GPS map, and now the Garmin Panoptix Live Scope.
This news should impact the fishing world, from the United States to the United Kingdom and beyond, thanks to the international effect ICAST is proving to have year to year with these Best New Product Showcases.
Garmin wasn't the only new product winner on the day, as a collective award announcement was officially made days ago. Other winners included the Minn Kota Ultrex in the Boating Accessories category, and the LIVETARGET Hollow Body Crawfish for Best Freshwater Soft Lure.
"My congratulations go to all of the winners and everyone who participated in the New Product Showcase," said ASA President Glenn Hughes. "Remember, there are also 949 products that also deserve recognition. This year, for the first time, all the New Product Showcase entries are available for viewing on ICASTfishing.org and on the ICAST app under the Exhibitor listings."
The ICAST conference and events continue through Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Orange County Convention Center.
