The hot streak continues for fishing phenom Erin Howard.
Erin Howard's name is becoming synonymous with trophy fish, whether they be splake, tiger trout, pike or muskie. And, over the past year, we've been proud to showcase her memorable catches, which at times, came from grueling days on the water and an unbridled work ethic.
We have so much respect for Howard's passion and her never-give-up attitude.
Although she chalked up a bucket list of enviable trophies as of late, this tiger muskie she recently landed ranks as her best to date.
Here's what she had to say about this momentous catch, as posted to her Facebook page May 31:
"A muddy kayak covered in fish slime—Looking back there has been more than a few fish sliming my kayak. Whether its a 38 inch northern pike in muddy Nebraska waters, a toad of a largemouth that hit topwater along a weedline and danced on the surface just inches away, a clear muskie from Tennesse that engulfed a bucktail in a shallow river system, or a 10 inch bluegill that ate a weedless rigged senko whole—none have meant more than this ski right here.
As a few of you may have noticed, tiger muskie have become something else to me entirely. What started as a quest to check one off the bucket list turned into a passion. Paired with my love of kayak fishing—the closeness to the water, the ability to travel long distances with nothing more than my own volition, the face to face combat with my favorite fish in the world— no other fish could have meant more.
What means the most, however, is the backing I have from two amazing companies, which leads me to the big news I mentioned. I am more than proud to say I am now part of the Scheels Fishing Team and Team Hobie. What fish slime my kayak next—I do not know. What I do know is, every fish that has slimed my kayak has lead up to this, and I am more than humbled and honored to say the very least. I cannot thank Scheels, and Hobie enough for believing in me."
You'd be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful tiger muskie than the one Howard's proudly holding here. And, the fact that she landed this big fish from her kayak is just icing on the cake.
Congrats on the fish of a lifetime, Erin. We couldn't be more proud!
