I think we can all agree... velvet is the next best thing to bone.
In the summertime before deer season, I am captivated by velvet bucks. I roam the crop fields in July and August, hoping to capture with the camera those whitetail bucks sporting their glorious velvet. It's a game of first and last light, but if you can find them, bachelor groups abound. And that is pretty cool to see.
Here's a glimpse into the many bucks I've crossed paths with over the years. Most sport the headgear that is sure to quicken the pulse once the season begins. Others will get a pass until the next year.

If you had your choice, which buck would you be gunning for come season opener? Number eight is a definite favorite for me.
Gotta love those sweet velvet bucks... but please hurry up, hunting season!
