Watch the 1970 Plymouth Superbird, one of the early pioneers of American aerodynamic design, in action.
In this video, prolific YouTube auto reviewer Kyle Lindsey conducts a history lesson and walkthrough of the 1970 Plymouth Superbird.
The Plymouth Superbird was the product of NASCAR's "homologation" rules, whereby manufacturers were required to produce road-going examples of any car they wanted to race. The 1970 Plymouth Superbird and its sister car, the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, were one-year models powered by either a 426 or a 440 V8 and a three-speed automatic or four-speed manual transmission.

The Superbird was raced by legendary NASCAR driver Richard Petty. Only 1,920 Superbirds and 503 Daytonas were ever built.
