Jaguar's all-new, all-electric SUV has its sights set squarely on Tesla.
The production of the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace made its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, but now we know how much this compact EV crossover will cost. When it goes on sale during the second half of this year, the I-Pace will have a starting MSRP of $69,500.
This price is about $10,000 less than the Model X, and that doesn't even include any local or federal tax incentives. It will mark Jaguar's third SUV, but the first of many steps toward electrification. More importantly, the I-Pace will be the biggest competition to Tesla's all-electric SUV. But it certainly won't be the last.
Jaguar uses a 90-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can take an 80 percent charge from a DC fast charger in 40 minutes; a Level 2 charger will take about 10 hours. With a fully charged battery, the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace will have a driving range of 240 miles.
Living up to Jaguar's performance heritage, the I-Pace will have an output of 394 horsepower and 512 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel-drive layout will help the electric SUV accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds before hitting its top speed of 124 mph.
The 2019 Jaguar I-Pace will be offered in three trim levels (S, SE and HSE), but Jaguar will also have a one-year run of First Edition models. These top-of-the-line models will be positioned at the top of the I-Pace lineup with a price of $86,895.
