When hunting woodchucks, is there such a thing as overkill?
Well, targeting one with a .50 BMG rifle could certainly fall under that category.
Whether you call them woodchucks or groundhogs, these furry pests make quite a mess. One of the best ways to eradicate them is long-range precision.

In a video shared by YouTuber DredgeLife 50, this groundhog was nailed by a .50 BMG rifle firing a 750-grain bullet from a little more than 300 yards. Yeah, that's a little bigger than what most people usually use.
This video highlights an often-overlooked danger of shooting any heavy caliber, which is the bullet's path after contact. A .50 BMG bullet will keep going after blasting through barriers and skipping off the hard ground. Make sure your backstop is sturdy or that bullet might land in a bad place.
