Members of the Humane Society of the United States can't be very happy after seeing the parody HSUS Super Bowl ad that aired on TV and exposed the group.
Produced by the Center for Consumer Freedom, which runs the web site HumaneWatch.org, this HSUS Super Bowl ad exposes a side of the virulent anti-hunting group that it doesn't want to be public. Yep, that's right: despite what you see on their television commercials, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) doesn't actually run any animal shelters or help homeless puppies and kittens.
Instead, they use the millions of dollars donated by unsuspecting Americans to (among other things) fund anti-hunting legislation, harass law abiding hunters, and fight proven wildlife conservation strategies.
Watch the HSUS Super Bowl ad yourself to see what I mean:
In addition to all of that, even Charity Navigator issued a "Donor Advisory" against HSUS several years ago due to the group's involvement on the losing side of a lawsuit against Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus which resulted in the group having to pay millions of dollars (potentially provided by donors) in the settlement.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to help animal shelters. Just don't make the mistake of assuming that a Humane Society animal shelter receives support from the Humane Society of the United States.
Instead, it's much better to donate the money directly to your local animal shelter instead of a large political group like HSUS that will potentially use the money for other purposes.
