This bass fishing video is pretty intense. The music is pumping and these guys are raring back on their fishing rods to set the hooks on some hard hitting fish. They're tossing topwater frog lures and the bass are responding ferociously.
This is summertime bassin' at its best. What angler doesn't thrill at the sight of a big lunker inhaling a topwater lure and hitting back hard to set the hook? There is even one monster bass in this video that tops out at eight pounds (I think you'll get at least two looks at him, the second when they have him hanging from the scale).
This is all action, no instruction. Although I suppose you could glean that they're throwing into and on the edges of weed beds and reeds, twitching the frog back to the boat, and are ready to set the hook hard and fast. Duh.
One thing I did notice was that the guys in the boat seemed to stand pretty close to one another. So close, in fact, that several times one of them had to duck or did get hit in the face with other guy's fishing rod while he was setting the hook. What's up with that?
Oh well, I guess when a bass inhales a topwater frog it's every man for himself.
It's winter right now, but this video makes me ache for summer and open water. Truth be told, any time of year is a good time to wet a line and feel the spray of a fighting largemouth or smallmouth bass. (There was at least one smallie in this barrage of bass; did you see it?)
The narrator who opened the video said that this was an oldie but goodie, a video that they rebranded and are showing again for all of their new followers. I'm glad they did. It's a winner. And that big eight pounder ain't nothing to sneeze at either!
