The investigation uncovered that the Cranston fired his first shot near Jefferson and continued to follow it on various county roads and firing more shots until the deer finally died in corn field near Cooper. The buck was reported to green score more than 200 inches.

Cranston had to forfeit his shotgun and the buck. His hunting privileges have been suspended for a year, and he also had to pay $8,000 in liquidated damages.

The moral of the story: don't poach and trespass, because it ultimately won't end well.
