Discovery Channel reality TV series star will find himself behind bars for the remainder of his life.
Do you remember the big hit series Sons of Guns? Did you ever wonder why it wasn't on television anymore? If you hadn't heard, Will Hayden, the main character of the show and owner of Red Jacket Firearms was going through the legal system for crimes he had committed almost a decade apart.
The show Sons of Guns was a big hit from 2011 to 2014, as they filmed the day to day operations of Red Jacket Firearms, a custom firearm shop. So, many were crushed to see the show go, but very hopeful that Hayden would get what he deserved if the accusations were true.
Well after quite some time, the judiciary system has finally come to a conclusion and the former star was sentenced to life in jail after being convicted of rape.
Will Hayden was sentenced Thursday, May 11th to two life sentences plus 40 years, with the life sentences running concurrently, CBS affiliate WAFB reports. It is also reported that Hayden will not be eligible for any type of parole or probation because he is Louisiana-based man. This is according to the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore.
Following Hayden's guilty verdict in April, District Attorney Hillary Moore also discussed one of the victim's testimony at trial, saying:
"This was a young child that was raped at a very young age and she chose to testify in front of the jury, in front of her abuser, and she actually threw up five times while testifying," Moore said.
It is rather disturbing thing to see when hearing of cases like this. Especially someone in such a powerful position that you feel you get to know through a reality series. But, it is great to see the women involved begin to get the justice they deserve.
Hayden was convicted on one count of forcible rape and two separate counts of aggravated rape. According to the Associated Press, one victim testified that she was repeatedly raped by Hayden in a string of incidents spanning more than a year when she was 11 and 12.
With nearly a decade between the two crimes, finally, Hayden will serve the decades he deserves behind bars.
