A Polish nature photographer crawled through over 600 feet of quagmire to save a young eagle from certain doom.
A young eagle fledged for the first time ended up in the worst possible place when it fell or tried to land in the mud.
Enter one brave man who made it a point to save the young bird from a certain and sticky death: photographer Krzysztof Chomicz.
While Chomicz was there to take photos of wildlife he saw what was happening and with the help of some local firefighters, was able to drag himself into the awful muck with the safety of an attached rope.

After the daring rescue the bird was treated by wildlife specialists and then returned to a sanctuary near Szczecin.
Despite the fact that the big bird, identified as a white-tailed eagle, was pecking his arms and legs Chomicz was able to bring it back safely.
The sea eagle was dubbed 'Icarus' by those that helped in the process to rehabilitate it and return it to the wild.
