New York's Remaining Muskie Waters Open Tomorrow, June 17th

Remaining New York muskie waters are set to open tomorrow,  June 17.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation will open Muskie season on Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, Upper Niagra River and Lower Niagra River tomorrow, June 17.  The majority of the state's waters were already opened to muskie fishermen on May 27.

New York State has over 32 lakes that are home to muskie. The Lower Niagra River and Lake Erie are two of the state's renown waters, and anglers will be happy to have their opportunity on them this weekend.

Anglers should note that regulations on these waters vary from the state's remaining waters.  The minimum limit on waters opening on June 17 are 54".  The majority of lakes and rivers that were opened on May 27  have a 40" minimum limit. Both possession limits are set at 1 a piece.

New York's State record for muskie is 69 lbs 15 oz caught by Arthur Lawton in 1957.
