Goodness, Cuba is number one on the fly fishing bucket list.
Since regulations have been changing in and around Cuba in regard to American and Cuban relations, the fly fishing scene down there has been exploding. Every video that surfaces of the expeditions in the area captivates most of the fly fishing crowd on social media.
For example, just check out this latest video showing off fly fishing paradise from Smith Optics. If this video doesn't make you try to figure out a way to get there one day yourself to experience this incredible fishery, we just don't have much in common.
I'm heading to Belize in April for my own version of a fishing paradise; however, I'd trade that over in a heartbeat if I could fish Cuba instead. That untapped fishery produces dream catches of bonefish, tarpon, and permit almost daily. In other words, it's the flats of Florida on steroids.
