Two Winnipeg Jets players had the day off from hockey so they hired a guide and did this!
Matt Hendricks and Dustin Byfuglien might be known for slap shots and body checks, but now they might be more famous for their fishing abilities.
The pair hired the Sturgeon Slayers, well-known guide outfitters who took them out on an excursion on British Columbia's Fraser River. When the dust settled, they had caught and released a massive sturgeon that looked more like a dinosaur than a fish!
Clients have the opportunity to catch a monster like this because guide services in the region have a strict policy of tagging and releasing these fish back into the famed Fraser River.
The guide company said in a post that this fish was 9 feet 9 inches fork length and about 600 pounds.
Congratulations to these two conservation-minded players! Good luck this season, and here's a big thanks to the Sturgeon Slayers for sharing this great adventure!
