The host of the popular Whitetail Rendezvous podcast, Bruce Hutcheon, is still recovering after a major accident.
It started out as every great hunting story does. Selecting, packing and loading gear. It's a scene Bruce Hutcheon, host of the Whitetail Rendezvous podcast, experienced many times before. This time he would be traveling 1,400 miles to deer camp.
Unfortunately for Hutcheon, this time he arrived in a hospital bed instead of at hunt camp. At approximately 4 a.m., he was traveling through an area that had recently experienced some moisture and temperatures had dropped. That drop in temperature caused black ice to form on the road. In the dark of the early morning, this black ice was even more difficult to see than usual. It was then he lost control of the F-150 he was driving and rolled the truck three times.
The accident put him in the emergency room at 5 a.m. Doctors diagnosed him with five broken ribs and a collapsed lung. But despite a few scary incidents, like coding on the hospital bed, he didn't lose his sense of humor. He posted photos on Instagram explaining his hospital room had become his new ground blind.
Bruce is working towards a full recovery and is excited to get back out hunting. You can follow his story on Instagram by following @whitetailrendezvous, or checkout the podcast here. I recommend starting at Episode 412 with yours truly, where we discuss five trends shaping the hunting industry for 2017.
Bruce is currently undergoing rehab and is eagerly awaiting his return home to Colorado.
