Curious Buck Checks Out Bowhunter and Fallen Deer

Whitetail deer are predisposed to have a healthy fear of humans. The slightest sound, smell, or movement determined as foreign to them will elicit a tail of white high in the air followed by a quick retreat. Every once in a while, though, a deer comes along that mixes things up. This eye-opening video shows a bowhunter standing on the ground with a harvested buck at his feet. However, as the hunter sits calmly next to his recently fallen buck, one of those rare curious whitetails makes an appearance, not only getting eerily close to the hunter and his deer, but actually lapping them and feeling out the entire area. And, as you're about to see, neither the human nor the dead deer seemed to faze this curious whitetail.

Prepare to be amazed:

Is this a rut-crazed buck, a pet whitetail or just a dumb deer? We'll let you decide. While it's certainly uncommon to see a deer with no regard for a human in its vicinity, there's still typically a boundary to which you can get comfortable. Even if a deer is looking straight at you without much hesitancy, it's highly unlikely that you'd be able to get this close. Factor in a deer you just killed and the distance between this hunter and his quarry, and you have yourself some version of a hunting miracle.

Even though the interested buck didn't seem too eager to run off, even when the hunter make some quick movements in its direction, it's safe to assume he eventually made his way and continued carrying on with business as usual. That said, if that buck has any chance of surviving over the next couple seasons, it'll probably want to learn from this moment and keep a little more distance next time.
