Test Shows How Lure Color Is Effected at Different Depths

This test reveals just how important lure color actually is.

Lure color is something that many fishermen swear by. In fact, Lefty Kreh's famous saying, "If it ain't chartreuse, it ain't no use," has been a go-to point of reference for many anglers. However, when it comes to fishing deeper water, the light is distorted due to certain colors in the spectrum not penetrating the water in the same manner.

Watch the video below to find out how these colors do at different depths.

It becomes obvious that some to the darker colors stand out very well and so do some of the brighter colors. It seems the more neutral colors are the ones that lose their charisma as the diver gets deeper and deeper. The hot pink, black, purple, and chartreuse all remain the most prevalent in every depth. Another interesting note is how the yellow color morphs into a chartreuse as the depth increases.

This test is important especially when it comes to fishing deeper waters. Different colors could easily provide more or less strikes depending on the situation.
