These are the gifts we normally don't buy ourselves, but always happy to have.
The holiday season is right around the corner. Your inbox has probably been flooded with specials on crossbows, rifles, boots, fishing poles and who knows what else for weeks now. Christmas gift ideas can me tough when it comes to outdoorsmen, because it's hard to guess what they do and don't already have. There's no question that we love to make sure we are outfitted. However, there are some outdoorsman Christmas present ideas that are often overlooked. Here are just a few examples.
1. Hand Warmers
If you know an outdoorsman, you can guarantee they buy hand warmers every year when it starts to get cold. Hunters, fishermen, hikers and boaters all buy hand warmers, so this would make for a great stocking stuffer. They've become almost an essential item in a backpack. Yes, it's not a big-ticket present, but it's one they'll remember you for when it's 10 degrees outside and their hands are nice and warm.
2. Thermal Underwear
Speaking of being cold, a good pair of thermal underwear is worth 10 times its weight in gold when the weather turns. Really nice pairs, like the stuff from Badlands, hugs real tight to the skin so it doesn't bog you down. This is especially nice when it comes time to layer up. When the base layer is super warm and also super thin, it's a win for everyone.
3. Wool Socks
Socks seem like a good dad gift, right? Well, for a hunter or fisherman, wool socks also save the day when it's cold. More times than not, the outdoorsman in your family runs to Walmart the night before their adventure to go buy a pair a socks. This year, you can beat them to the punch and throw a pair their stocking instead.
4. Binoculars
Whoops, here goes a bigger-ticket item. The good thing, though, is it doesn't have to be. Now, every outdoorsman loves binoculars. They probably already have a really good pair, but what you're going for is a pair for their vehicle. A pair that would fit in their glove box or middle console would be the perfect gift. You have no idea how many times the hunter or fisherman in your family pulls off on the side of the road to look at something.
5. Rain Gear
Buying rain gear sucks. Do you know why? It's because you're planning for a bad day in the woods? Whomever you're thinking about probably already has a pair, but more rain gear never hurts. I'd imagine at some point, they're going to take somebody with them to the woods or on the water. Having extra rain gear only makes sense, so this is a holiday gift you can't go wrong with.
