A single coyote attack on a human is rare. This many in the same area in such a short amount of time is a sign something is wrong.
Every so often you hear about a coyote attacking a human. Normally when this occurs, the human is screwing with the coyote, or it's trapped somewhere and acting in self-defense. Coyotes go out of their way to avoid contact with people. So, when a story comes out of New York about five separate coyote attacks in the same county over 48 hours, red flags start popping up all over the place.
Authorities are on the lookout and citizens in the area are on guard. Here are the details we know so far.
Did you notice one of those red flags? It sounds like all these attacks are happening in the daytime, too. If you know anything about coyotes, you know that doesn't add up at all.
At this point, they don't know if this is a single, rabid coyote just really making the rounds or a pack that's infected and inflicting some serious damage.
But for now, if you live around Westchester and see a coyote, get indoors as quickly as possible.
