Record-Breaking 37-Pound Rainbow Trout Caught on Film

Here's the clip of Sean Konrad catching his line-class, world-record rainbow trout. The fish barely fits in the net!

Sean and Adam Konrad are definitely master trout anglers. In fact, they pursue giant—and we do mean giant—trout with a passion. With a passel of monster rainbow trout and other species to their credit, the brothers hold a number of record book entries.

This video shows Sean catching his 37-pound, line-class-record rainbow in 2008. The calmness with which he brings in the fish is almost as impressive as the fish itself. He's clearly done this before!

The rugby-ball-shaped trout weighed a whopping 37 pounds, 4 ounces and set the IGFA 16-pound-test, line-class world record.

"He's a big boy," Sean understates as he reels in the tank that bit on a Mepps Syclops spoon.

In 2009, Sean boated an amazing 48-pound, all-tackle, world-record rainbow. Get this: the record it would beat was his brother's 43-pound, 10-ounce rainbow caught in 2007.

The brothers have a YouTube channel, aptly named Fishing Geeks, where they have several videos of these fish and others.

The Konrad brothers aren't just trout anglers, though. Here's a link to a video showing them going after record-book burbots. Sean actually owns the world-record burbot entry, which was a pot-bellied 25-pounder.
