Animal control removed an escaped python from a Virginia toilet.
A snake-hater's worst nightmare played out recently in Virginia Beach. James Hopper found a huge surprise slithering up through his toilet last Thursday.
It was a 2.5-foot-long ball python that was still very much alive. This obviously isn't the sort of thing someone encounters every day, which is why Hooper initially thought he was the victim of a joke.
"I saw it out of the corner of my eye and thought that someone was pranking me until I saw its tongue and it moving around," Hopper told Delmarva Now.
Hooper shared the photos of his find on Facebook. He then turned the snake over to wildlife officials after using a fishing pole to catch it. Unbelievably, authorities located the owner of the ball python. The animal had escaped weeks earlier and traveled a few miles.
As unbelievable as it sounds, this isn't the first time someone's found a snake in a toilet. Two years ago, a man actually suffered bites from a 10-foot python in his toilet when he went to use the facilities one morning. There are plenty of other videos of large snakes coming out of toilets that have made their viral rounds.
One other notable snake-in-a-toilet incident happened last December when a venomous rattlesnake found its way up through a Texas family's toilet. That discovery led to the revelation of a whole nest living under the house.
