It may be a really old cartridge, but there's no reason why you can't cleanly hunt feral hogs with a .30-30 Winchester.
This hunter in Texas was set up in a blind overlooking a feeder when a really big hog came in and started eating.
While he really wanted to harvest a feral hog with his blow gun, he also had a Winchester Model 1894 lever-action rifle chambered in .30-30 with him for backup.
After taking a few seconds to consider the situation, he wisely decided the hog was too big for the blow gun, so he picked up the .30-30 and took aim.

As you can see, that shot really did a number on the hog.
After all, there's a reason why the .30-30 Winchester is such a popular hunting cartridge in North America, and it's really tough to beat the effectiveness of the cartridge on big game at short range.
I have no idea what the hog weighed, but that's clearly a really nice boar. Nice work!
