Low water levels are threatening a large group of sturgeon in Sturgeon Lake.
According to a report from KATU, there are hundreds of white sturgeon trapped in a shallow pool in Sturgeon Lake near Oregon's Sauvie Island.
Wildlife officials are still unsure how the fish got there, but are looking into the low water levels of the Columbia River, which feeds into Sturgeon Lake. The south region of the lake is reportedly only a few inches deep, exposing many of the larger fish.
Locals are concerned the fish won't survive if wildlife officials don't act quickly, as warm temperatures could kill the fish without deeper water.

"They're a valuable resource to Oregon," Dave Meyer, a Sauvie Island resident told KATU. "They need to be saved as soon as possible."
Meyer, an avid hunter and fisherman, first saw the group of fish Saturday, and estimates there to be around 500 trapped in a shallow pool.
The fish apparently did manage to dig and create a slightly deeper pool, but they're now isolated from the rest of the lake.
"They have wallowed that out into their own little spot to where they can get water when the water was going down," Meyer said.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife set up a pump to move more water into the lake, but according to Meyer, it's still not enough.
"This is a temporary solution, but it's not a savior," he said. "It's not going to save them."
In Meyer's defense, it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to pick them up and move them, does it? Either way, as you can see in the video, fish are starting to die, so hopefully the ODFW finds a solution soon.
