Anytime someone in their 90s bags any kind of game animal, it's worth celebrating. When that someone is as high profile as a former U.S. President, you've got to give it up.
Jimmy Carter, 94 years old and counting, did just that on a recent wild turkey hunt in Georgia with the founder of Realtree, Bill Jordan, and Bill's son Jordan.
As it often goes these days, we need "pics or it didn't happen," and luckily Jordan came through via Instagram.
Way to go, Mr. President! Your love of hunting has lasted nearly a century!
Georgia is known as a great place to go if you're looking for quality Eastern turkey hunting, and this particular hunt took place at Realtree Farms, the company's well-managed and coveted property in Columbus.
Who knew President Carter was a turkey hunter? He's just one in a group of former American leaders who have had a positive impact on outdoor rec, mainly thanks to their own appreciation for it. Former President George H.W. Bush was recently posthumously inducted in the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame, Herbert Hoover was known as the "Fishing President," and everyone knows about Theodore Roosevelt's hunting exploits.
But to see a successful turkey season in your 94th year in one of the greatest spots for Georgia hunting is something else.
