Have you ever heard a story of a bear attack? Have you seen what survivors typically look like? You almost definitely have, which is why you would never think in a million years to taunt a wild bear. This guy in Cades Cove, Tennessee, missed the memo, however, as he not only instigated one black bear, but rather a mother with cubs. It's a short clip without much context, so it's hard to know for sure what he's doing. To be fair, it does kind of look like he's trying to shoo them away at the end of the video. In the beginning, though, it almost looks like he's reaching out his hand to feed or maybe pet the cubs.
While there isn't much on the story, it seems this guy was simply trying to see how close he could get until he realized he'd made a mistake. You can even hear someone in the background mumble, "That's a bad idea." Another mutters, "Dumbass..."
Watch the video below to decide for yourself what happened here.
Paige Marple, one of the spectators during the incident, managed to catch it on camera and originally posted the video to her Facebook page, where it would ultimately go viral.
This is how she described the event:
"In Cades Cove there are signs everywhere stating to stay 50 yards away from the animals. This man did not listen and could have died because of it. I don't know how he's still alive honestly. Too close of encounters. STAY AWAY FROM THE WILDLIFE."
We can all agree this guy made some pretty stupid decisions here, but what do you think his intentions were? Let us know!
