The new 5.11 A.T.L.A.S. Footwear collection looks sweet.
It feels like warm weather isn't too far off and it's a good time of year to be considering new footwear options in anticipation of all your early spring activities.
We first got a good look at these boots at SHOT Show 2020 in Las Vegas earlier this year. Now 5.11 Tactical is releasing more details on them.
The new A.T.L.A.S. footwear collection is designed for people who like to work and play hard. The company says these new products have been in development for several years now. The result is several new boots and a Trainer, the designs coming as a result of user feedback.
"Listening to our end users and solving problems to allow them to perform better is at the heart of why we design out products," 5.11 footwear category manager Brendan Rynne said in a press release. "We heard our guys complain about 'work weight" over and over again, and after several years, we are really excited to be giving them the answer to their footwear support and stability problems in the new 5.11 A.T.L.A.S. series."
In case you're wondering, A.T.L.A.S stands for "all terrain load assistance system." 5.11 says this system will provide enhanced stability control and maximum comfort. They say these boots were designed specifically with carrying additional weight. It's for guys who have jobs lifting heavy items repeatedly or for the hiker who likes to trek deep into the backcountry with a heavy pack on their back. They'd probably be the ideal boots for an elk or sheep hunt.
The boots of this new footwear series are available in 8-inch and mid heights. They are also offering the 8-inch in a side-zip boot design.
The upper is water resistant, and the foam midsole is high rebound and high impact. 5.11 calls them Echo and Force foam.
On top of that, for additional arch support, 5.11 says their new A.T.L.A.S. plate will help make turning easier. That's topped with a new ortholite footbed to keep your feet cushioned.
The tread pattern on the oil resistant outsole is multi-directional and slip resistant. That's helpful for anyone who works a factory floor or garage where there could be hazardous spills. The mid boot has many of the same features. 5.11's website says it also has 3D molded thermo plastic rubber (TPR) protection for both heel and toes.
The A.T.L.A.S. Trainer, meanwhile, features the same load assist system, and new Echo and Force foam with a low profile. These Trainers are made of a high abrasion mesh. Remember that A.T.L.A.S. support plate we mentioned earlier? You can use it with the Trainers too if you're looking for a little extra arch and cushion support.
These Trainers are built for every type of terrain from pavement to backcountry trail. Sounds like a good option for springtime adventuring!
