One fortunate hiker will earn $20,000 to hike the Appalachian Trail, from start to finish, while getting to share plenty of brews along the way.
Devils Backbone Brewing Company is sponsoring a special opportunity for one person to hike the most famous trail in the contiguous U.S., and get paid big time to do it. It's called the "Chief Hiking Officer."
Whosoever manages to land this amazing gig will be slated to trek the entire 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail from its start on Springer Mountain in Georgia to its conclusion at Mt. Katahdian in Maine with only one proviso: "with or without accommodation."
Since it will take an estimated five to seven months to complete the journey, Devils Backbone is only looking for an experienced hiker.
To put your name in the hat, make a one-minute video application stating your hiking credentials and desire to take on the big trail. Who knows? You may be selected.

Along with the $20,000 sum, this gig comes with a free drop off at the trailhead, included gear, you will not receive hotel expenses.
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy says the trail is the longest hiking-only footpath in the world, stretching from Maine to Georgia. If you hike the entire length of the trail, you will have traversed some 2,193 miles through 14 states.
The highest elevation reached is the section that runs just below the summit of Clingmans Dome in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, along the North Carolina and Tennessee border at 6,643 feet.
Over three million hikers travel this stunning and lengthy trail each year, though few dare to travel its entire length. Could you do it?
