Polaris has some interesting new additions for 2022.
It is that time of year again. Time for the unveiling of Polaris off road's 2022 lineup of ATVs and UTVs. Last year saw dealerships packed and sales brisk thanks to more people than ever getting into the outdoor powersports world.
For 2022, the Polaris RANGER, GENERAL, Sportsman, and RZR are getting some new additions sure to appeal to riders of all different backgrounds and skill levels.
We have the goods on some of these new additions and the fine folks in Stillwater, Minnesota are finally ready to give a first look, so let us see what they are bringing to the table this year.
Polaris RANGER SP 570
First up is a new addition to their already extensive line of RANGER models. Polaris is calling the new SP 570 a "mid-size" RANGER option for people who like to both work and play hard. Chris Judson, Polaris' Vice President of RANGER, GENERAL, and ATV said the 570 is perfect compromise for anyone looking for a machine that can do both.
"Our customers lead a busy lifestyle and they don't want to compromise on the two things they care about most: doing good quality work and enjoying time with the family," Judson said in a press release. "The RANGER SP 570 was designed so they don't have to make those tradeoffs; it's great for work, fun to ride and the perfect fit."
The 570 is being fitted with a 44-horsepower, Prostar 570 engine. Polaris says this gives the machine 1,500 pounds of towing capacity, which should be enough for any farmer, rancher, or hunter's toughest jobs.
They also made the cargo box bigger to give the machine 30 percent more storage space. Polaris Inc says the 56-inch width will help the vehicle maneuver in tight quarters, and that this machine has an improved turning radius.
For side-by-side owners who want a little more protection in the cab of their RANGER UTV, they have also made a Northstar Edition that comes with their Pro Shield cab system. The new SP 570 will also have a whole line of accessories available including a JBL audio sound system and Polaris' popular Ride Command technology.
Polaris says the new SP 570 off-road vehicles will be available in four different variations including two-seat and crew models. The standard SP 570 will start with an MSRP of $10,499 and the pricing goes up from there. The crew model starts at $11,999, while the two set NorthStar Edition starts at $16,999, and the NorthStar crew edition will start at $19,499.
Polaris GENERAL XP 1000 Trailhead Edition
The popular GENERAL line of "crossover" side-by-sides has a new limited-edition addition in the Trailhead Edition of the machine. Once again, it seems the engineers are accounting for the many new people are coming into the powersports world with this addition to the model lineup.
"More people are engaging in outdoor recreation, taking to trails and wide-open property across the country," Judson said. "Some are just getting their first taste of the fun and excitement of outdoor adventure. But for those looking to go further, in search of new destinations and experiences, the GENERAL XP 1000 Trailhead Edition is purpose-built to handle longer, more adventurous hauls with riders and all their gear."
It sounds like this one should be a hunting machine thanks to features like the Lock & Ride adventure bed rack fitted atop the 600-pound cargo box that also dumps. Polaris says it has MOLLE sidewalls and can haul an additional 50 pounds of gear. The Trailhead Edition also comes with an 11-inch Pro Armor light bar mounted into the bumper to help brighten even the darkest of trails.
Polaris also fitted this edition of GENERAL with a Rockford Fosgate audio system, their popular Ride Command package, and a special matte blue slate paint style with accents in orange rust. The standard, two-seat edition starts at $26,699 while the four-seat models will start at $28,899.
Polaris Sportsman 570 Ride Command Edition and Sportsman XP 1000 Ride Command Edition
Polaris is now also expanding their automatic 4x4 ATV line with two new limited editions featuring their advanced Ride Command package that brings GPS navigation, instrumentation, plow mode, Bluetooth and more to the operator's fingertips. For Judson, it was only natural to migrate this over to the Sportsman line and it will also be available as an accessory package on the other models of Sportsman in 2022.
"We are continually pushing to deliver the best possible ATV riding experience and bringing the RIDE COMMAND technology to Sportsman is just the latest example," Judson said in a press release. "Whether going out alone or in a group, the new Sportsman RIDE COMMAND editions provide riders added confidence and capability to stay connected and explore new trails and destinations."
The 7-inch touchscreen can be operated with gloves on and will also allow riders to take advantage of the "Group Ride" feature to keep track of your buddies, even when the trails start to twist and turn through rough terrain.
For 2022, the new Sportsman will also have upgraded 26-inch Duro tires on 14-inch aluminum wheels, a multi-select EPS system that allows you to switch between three different levels of assistance on steering, and front and rear arched A-arms, and sealed suspension bushings.
Polaris also added an underseat bag for more storage, and a Polaris 3,500-lb winch to the front bumper with a tough synthetic rope for clearing obstacles in the trail. The 570 Ride Command Edition will start with an MSRP of $10,899, while the XP 1000 model will start at $14,499.
Polaris RZR 200 EFI
Another new UTV addition for 2022 is an exciting new machine for youth riders, the RZR 200 EFI. Polaris says this machine will replace the RZR 170 EFI. This new machine is styled just like one of the full-size RZR Pro XP models. It is powered by a 180cc EFI engine and has a front dual A-arm suspension that gives it 10 inches of ground clearance. It also has a functional display that tracks speed for parents.
Speaking of that, Polaris has built in Ride Control technology that allows parents to set appropriate speed limits. A Geofencing feature allows you to set limits on where the vehicle can operate and how fast it can go, an important safety feature. They have also built in a "helmet aware technology" that prevents the RZR 200 from even starting unless the child has his or her helmet on.
Most importantly, the new RZR 200 is built to grow with the child as they develop their off-road driving skills. It has an adjustable seat and a tilt steering to adjust as they grow. The MSRP on the RZR 200 EFI is $5,899.
Rhino-Rack Storage Options for RANGER and GENERAL
Recognizing that most of their users likely have a lot of other toys they are using in conjunction with their UTV, Polaris is now partnering with Rhino-Rack in 2022 for new accessories and storage systems to improve the functionality of GENERAL and RANGER even more. Included are bed racks and roof racks, all specially designed for the popular off-road machines.
Included in the line are a RANGER rear bed rack and roof rack, a GENERAL Lock & Ride rear bed rack, and Rhino-Rack accessories and mounts for things like guns, multi-purpose tools, and a high-lift jack mount. No word on the prices of these accessories just yet, but Polaris promises they will be easy to install and will make hauling gear with your UTV even easier than ever.
