A bison struggles to release its giant head from a car window in Canada.
A full-grown bison at a drive-through wildlife park in Quebec, Canada got its head stuck in a small vehicle's window, and the frantic scene that followed was captured on video.
The incident happened at Parc Oméga (or Omega Park), east of Gatineau, near Montebello, Quebec. Leonardo Heizer was at the park and filmed the bison from his own vehicle. Heizer was later interviewed by CTVNews.ca.
"Somebody opened the window and...the bison put the head inside the car and I was shocked," said Heizer. "I was thinking somebody is going to get hurt for sure."
The Canadian park's rules expressly forbid visitors from opening their windows in the bison enclosure, and feeding the animals is prohibited.
Heizer told CTV that the car involved was significantly damaged by the bison's head.
"The windshield was damaged and the column between the front window and the windshield was damaged too," he said.
Staff at the wildlife park noted that the bison was able to free itself after about 10 minutes, and was unharmed.
"He wasn't trapped that long so thankfully it was just more panic rather than anything else, so he wasn't hurt and he managed to get himself back out and he wasn't hurt so we're very thankful for that," Lucy Robertson, a staff member at Parc Oméga said.
Nonetheless, incidents like this are a reminder of the consequences of breaking the park's rules.
"All of our safety rules have been put in place to avoid any incidents, such as what happened on Sunday, and just to ensure the safety of both animals and our visitors," Robertson said.
