Bowhunter Gets Second Chance on Kentucky Giant and Smokes Him With an 8-Yard Shot

Coyotes ruined this hunter's first chance at this beast.

In hunting there are so many things that can go wrong and ruin a hunt. Maybe the wind shifts out of your favor, or an arrow hits an unseen tree branch, or worse, the deer spots you. It can be easy to get frustrated when something goes wrong but good things come to those who are patient and never give up the hunt.

Such is the case for Austin Musselman of the Homegrown Experience. His group has been watching a giant 5-year-old buck they call "Little Glenn" for years now. This is the season they finally decide to try and harvest him. Austin's first attempt to kill the buck ends in disaster when eight coyotes chase him off a food plot.

Fast forward a few weeks later and Austin gets his second chance and makes the most of it. It makes for one of the most exciting hunts we have seen in a while.

What a hunt, and what a deer! The shot looked like it was a little high, but it is obvious Austin got both lungs on this shot from the way the blood was pouring out and from the obvious blood trail. One cannot ask for a better hunt than that. Especially on a deer that you have already missed out on once. As they noted that first encounter with Little Glenn was nothing less than a hunter's worst nightmare come to life.

We are guessing these guys are going to do a little predator hunting in the offseason after that encounter. It is not often you see eight coyotes all packed up like that. No wonder all the deer cleared that field.

Still, Austin did not let one heart-breaking experience spoil his season. He kept at it, and he got an amazing second chance. We were surprised the buck abandoned that doe to walk right through his shooting lane. It just goes to show that anything can happen at any time. The season is never ruined or over until time runs out on the final day!
