Famous hunter Eva Shockey fired back at an anti-hunting comment that suggested she kill her dog instead of the black bear she recently harvested.
Anti-hunting comments on the internet range from well-informed to complete dumbassery. This story is about the latter.
Last year, Eva Shockey went bear hunting in North Carolina with her father Jim Shockey, host of Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures and Uncharted.
The father-daughter pair bagged one bear each; both bears weighed more than 500 pounds.
Anti-hunting comments started pouring in after Shockey had posted pictures of the bear kills to Facebook. One of them was particularly vile.
"An anti-hunter just told me, and I quote, to 'kill that little worthless dog you have instead' of the bear I just hunted in NC."
Shockey deals with anti-hunting comments all the time. She took this one to task.
"Apparently hunting a bear, eating/donating all of the meat and putting money towards conservation is a bad thing, but killing my puppy is ok. If this logic isn't totally insane, I don't know what is."
On Monday morning, Shockey appeared on the talk show Fox and Friends to talk more about the comment and how she deals with anti-hunting comments.
The poise and class she demonstrates in this video are a large part of why Shockey is a role model to so many young female hunters.
