When most people think of their ideal fishing spot, they picture a large lake or a sparkling mountain stream. Most wouldn't consider a dirty-looking storm drain off a small creek. But sometimes it pays to think outside the box a little bit when looking for a good fishing spot, as this video from YouTuber Ty PigPatrol shows. He's in Wisconsin fishing with a buddy on this one when they follow a small creek. To their shock, they find dozens of king salmon bunched up near a small storm drain outlet. And to their amazement, the salmon are trying to make their way up the pipe!
Ty wastes no time throwing a small spinner in the shallow waters near the drain. It takes a few minutes, but eventually one of the salmon scarfs down his spinner, resulting in a rather challenging fight in a stream that's filled with all sorts of hazards. We guarantee you've never seen a salmon fishing video quite like this one.
If we hadn't watched it unfold on camera, we'd have a hard time believing it. Why these fish felt compelled to gather in this tiny, man-made pocket off the larger creek, we'll never know. It's even more puzzling that many of the fish were trying to make their way down the tube. Whatever the case may be, the fish related to this structure and were there in a huge group. The lesson to take away from this video is to never overlook any spot that holds water. You just never know what giants are lurking in an unexpected location.
However, we will give it to Ty that he seems to have a real nose for finding locations like this—much better than probably anyone else we've ever seen on YouTube. What we'd give for some fish-finding skills like that!
