Rangers place wildlife cameras in parks to track the local wildlife and monitor new animals in the area. Often, they expect to see a variety of animals wandering along. But Colorado rangers never expected to see this. The Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Department shared a few snaps on its Twitter feed showing a bear that was having the time of his life—appearing in 580 photos on the trail cam, with 400 of them perfect selfies. This bear made sure that every angle was covered.
The rangers tweeted, "Recently, a bear discovered a wildlife camera that we use to monitor wildlife across #Boulder open space. Of the 580 photos captured, about 400 were bear selfies."
Some photos show the bear looking confidently at the camera, while in others he played coy. The photos were taken in November and originally posted to Instagram, according to OSMP. Spokesperson Phillip Yates talked with NBC News about their photogenic bear.
"These cameras play an important role in identifying important wildlife areas," Yates told NBC News. "The information we collect from them is used to recommend habitat-protective measures to help protect sensitive natural areas."
He continued, "We are fortunate to live in an area with a rich diversity of wildlife species, and these cameras help us to learn what animals are really out there and what they are up to over the course of a day, a week, or even years."
Of course, the internet was obsessed with the photos of this bear, and just a handful of shots weren't nearly enough. Many asked where they could find all 580 to get the full effect. Another admirer commented, "Finally! An 'influencer' who doesn't use vanity filters." Another chimed in, "Makes me think of the song Vogue by Madonna where she sings, 'strike a pose.'"
With 580 shots, this bear has enough content to fill up its own social media page for at least a year!
