Many pet owners are warned about treats that are super high in calories. It's so easy to give your cat a treat anytime they do something cute, or just because you feel like it. Cat treats can have an unhealthy impact on your cat. If you noticed that your cat might be gaining too much weight, it might be time to add healthy cat treats to your cat's diet. One way to do that is to make your own homemade treats!
We found a few DIY tuna cat treat recipes that your feline friends will flip out about. This is one that our cats enjoy, and the whole recipe (prep and baking) only took about 40 minutes. To personalize the recipe, we used a cute bone cutter.

Tasty Tuna Cat Treats
Ingredients:
- 6 ounces undrained tuna
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons of water
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Place all ingredients into a mixing bowl and stir until a soft dough forms.
- Let dough rest for 10 minutes.
- Cover a large surface with cornmeal and roll your dough out until it's ¼ inch thick.
- Use either a small cookie cutter or knife to cut into shapes.
- Place on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Let cool and serve!
Homemade cat treats are super easy once you have a few recipes that become your go-to recipes. We even found a few recipes for catnip! Tuna treats seem to be the treat of choice for our felines as any canned tuna in our house makes us very popular.
