2017 Nissan Titan

When most think of capable pickup trucks, the Ford F-150, the Chevrolet Silverado or similar models come to mind. One truck that doesn't garner as much attention is the Nissan Titan.
Yet the Titan earned Truck Trend's Truck of the Year honor for 2017.
Part of this achievement is due to the Titan's outstanding power prowess. The truck packs plenty of capability with its 5.6L Endurance V8 gas engine, resulting in the Titan's ability to generate 390-horsepower.
Power aside, the truck comes with a complement of innovative safety features such as moving object detection and improves functionality with the Dampened Assist tailgate.
Verdict: Was lost in the shuffle, starting to emerge as head of the class.

2017 GMC Sierra 1500

The GMC Sierra earned critical acclaim. Car and Driver placed the Sierra 1500 among its three best full-sized pickup trucks. And to be fair, the truck delivers in most areas. But there is something amiss about it.
The truck's handling isn't on par with some of its predecessors. Edmunds notes the 22-inch wheels and tire package make the handling worse, as the truck loses some of its traction. And as you can expect, if the handling isn't airtight, then you lose that connection when you steer this beast.
Verdict: Highly acclaimed yet delivers disconnected handling.
2017 Toyota Tacoma
Toyota
I choose the Tacoma because it's normally lower on critic's list of best trucks, but it has much to offer. If you love to go off-roading, the Tacoma's high ground clearance and handling make it the best truck in its segment for you to buy.
However, if you want a truck with a bit of interior space for gear, legs, and fancy things of the like, then it won't be the most comfortable fit for you.
Verdict: Great for off-roading, but you sacrifice space
