Who wouldn't want to have an awesome, one-of-a-kind rat rod while helping military veterans, too?
Classic cars and auctions are a great way to raise money for charities, and one Marine and Vietnam veteran is auctioning off his 1946 Chevrolet truck to raise money to benefit his fellow veterans.
The truck is listed through Gateway Classic Cars at the company's Philadelphia location, and the charity auction will run through December 28, 2017 with all of the proceeds being donated to the Fisher House Foundation.
This Vietnam veteran's tribute truck has an awesome look with its open wheels, lowered stance, and authentic patina, but the highlight is that it has been signed by more than a thousand Vietnam veterans. The inside has an equally unique look with a custom bench seat and Lokar shifter.
Despite the truck's patina, this 1946 Chevrolet rat rod rides on completely modernized underpinnings starting with the custom-built tube chassis. It is powered by a GM 350 cubic-inch V-8 crate engine with an Edelbrock 600 carburetor and four-speed automatic transmission.
To make sure it rides as smooth as it looks, this truck uses the front suspension from a C4 Corvette, and it is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes.
The proceeds of the charity auction will be donated to the Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit organization provides military families no-cost housing close to loved ones during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury.
Last year, Fisher House served more than 28,000 families, and since 1990, this organization has served more than 305,000 families! On top of this, the Fisher House also provides scholarships for military families and accepts frequent flier mile donations to further aid veterans and their families.
