It looks like U.S. buyers are finally getting an idea of what the rest of the world already knows about Nissan's full-size SUV.
The current Nissan Armada is no stranger to off-roading as it is identical to the global Nissan Patrol, but here, the second-gen Armada is relegated mostly to on-road duties.
To show what this SUV is capable of, though, Nissan has created a customized Armada Snow Patrol for the 2018 Chicago Auto Show.
Nissan started with a 2018 Nissan Armada 4x4, and went full SEMA on it starting with a three-inch Pro Comp suspension lift and 20-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Pro Comp MT2 off-road tires.
Up front, there's a Smittybilt bumper with a 12,000-pound winch, and for extreme terrains, the rocker panels are protected by rock sliders/side steps. The only other major modifications are the fender extensions, roof rack, and LED light bars.
Other than that, you're look at a stock Armada with its 390-horsepower V-8. The Nissan Armada Snow Patrol is purely a concept, but it does show the off-road possibilities and customizing potential.
"The Armada Snow Patrol project was completed using readily available aftermarket parts - thanks especially to Pro Comp and Katzkin - showing owners how easy it is to take their family adventures to the next level even in some of winter's most severe conditions," said Billy Hayes, division vice president, Nissan North America Commercial Vehicles and Trucks.
Of course, if you want something even more extreme, check out the other vehicle that Nissan customized for winter: the Nissan 370Zki snowmobile!
