If you're working on a Ford project and want a little motivation while you rebuild the engine, you're definitely going to want to watch this!
Hagerty has made plenty of engine rebuild videos over the years in its Redline Rebuild series on YouTube, and each one is as entertaining as the last.
Back in March 2018, we got to see the venerable Ford 289 V-8 engine get the time lapse rebuild treatment going from a totaled '64 Fairlane to breathing fire again in a little over five minutes.
As you can imagine, the rebuild was an exhaustive process, which actually took three months to complete. The video uses an estimated 40,000 photos that were taken from start to finish.
In addition to the normal work that goes into rebuilding a 54-year-old engine, this small-block Ford V-8 received a handful of performance upgrades such as a Cobra-inspired cam, mild porting of the heads and Edelbrock intake, carburetor and headers. The hard work pays off as the engine roars to life at the end of the video cranking out an estimated 310 horsepower, which is a considerable jump from the engine's stock 195-hp rating back in the day.
Past Hagerty time lapse videos have shown some of the most iconic engines ever made being rebuilt, including the Ford Flathead V-8, Volkswagen Beetle engine and, of course, the small-block Chevy V-8.
