Is a Jeep-Themed Park Not Gender-Neutral Enough?

Residents in the city of Bradenton, Florida, are debating whether or not a proposed Jeep-themed park is gender-neutral enough.

In a city commission hearing this week, Palmetto City Commissioner Tamara Varnadore debated a proposal by the Tri-County Jeepers, a 100-plus member strong contingent of Jeep fans to introduce a Jeep-themed park to its 17th Street Park, including toy Jeeps and a Jeep show.

One member, Steve Tadiuus, promoted the idea of "Jeep culture" as gender-neutral, with past activities including a toy drive as reflective of the club's altruistic spirit.

Jumping for Joy and Jeeps

"We are always looking at different ways to give back to the community and this one was brought up," said Radius in comments to a local newspaper outlet. "We saw an opportunity and wanted to explore it. We've been doing a toy drive for the last three or four years and part of owning a Jeep and being in a club is looking for opportunities to help people."

Another area resident commented on kid imaginations having no boundaries.

"I think it's a great idea," added Amanda Dilla. "Kids love getting into toy cars and do fake driving. I don't think it matters to kids."

No word on timeline for the proposal.
