Travis Pastrana has raced in motocross, rally cars, off-road trucks and even NASCAR, but his career will likely be defined by his recent recreation of three iconic Evel Kneivel jumps.
In one way or another, all of today's extreme athletes probably owe some of their passion to Evel Kneivel, and History Channel paid tribute to the late stuntman with a three-hour live event called Evel Live.
Wearing a Kneivel-esque jumpsuit and riding a Indian Scout FTR750, Travis Pastrana perhaps gave the most extreme performance of his career paying homage to a legend and cementing his own status.

50 Stacked Cars
Pastrana's first attempt was a recreation of Kneivel's successful jump over 50 crushed cars at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in February of 1973. It took Pastrana 143 feet to clear the 52 crushed cars, and, as a cherry on top, he finished the stunt with a nice stoppie.
13 Buses
Next, Travis Pastrana recreated Kneivel's failed attempt to jump 13 buses at London's Wembley Stadium in 1975. Although Kneivel cleared the buses with ease, he crashed hard on the landing. Pastrana, on the other hand, made it look easy to jump over 16 Greyhound buses, which was his longest jump of the night at 192 feet.
Caesars Palace Fountain
Pastrana's finale was actually one of Kneivel's worst crashes. During his jump attempt over the fountains at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to ring in the New Year for 1967, Kneivel lost control during the landing falling off his motorcycle and suffered numerous injuries including a concussion as well as a broken pelvis and femur. Pastrana made his attempt in the reverse direction, and successfully landed the 149-foot jump.
