Faraday Future completed a new production milestone, completing its first-ever body-in-white production vehicle for its FF91.
"Body-in-white" vehicles are an advanced framework, near-completed shell without any interior components including powertrain, comprising a full aluminum structure welded into place.
This meets the company's projections to produce a chassis against a December 2018 delivery timeline.
"This is one of many big milestones ahead for FF as we enter the final stage in introducing 'our new species', the FF 91 flagship," said Faraday Future CEO Jia Yueteng. "In the truest FF spirit, our teams and global partners have gone above and beyond to get to this important phase ahead of schedule."
At the moment, all production is based out of Los Angeles, California.
The FF91 promises some otherworldly specifications, including a 3-second 0-to-62 mile an hour time, 1050 horsepower, and a 130 kWh battery producing a driving range of more than 300 miles, which is close to many premium electric vehicles, including the Model X. Pricing is also expected to reach the $300,000 range.
Recently, the company received a $2 billion cash infusion from a Hong Kong-based equity firm, which has proved to be a saving grace against its well-publicized production and financial woes.
