A Dog Water Bottle Will Be Your Go-To For Long Walks

As the owner of two very thirsty chihuahuas, one of the best products I bought this summer was a dog water bottle. Before this brilliant device came into my life, I'd bring my own personal bottle on walks in the park, and then I'd clip a silicone dog bowl to my backpack. When it was time to hydrate, let's just say it was an ordeal. I had to open up my bottle, make sure the straw or the lip of the bottle doesn't hit the ground, get the water from the straw everywhere, pour, spill, then put it all away after drying the water bowl with my shirt. Luckily, I don't have to do that anymore—because the best dog water bottle is an easy way to give your pup a drink with no fuss.

I love that it's quick and doesn't waste water, because oftentimes I have to dump some of it out when my finicky dogs only finish half the bowl. Most work simply: click a button or squeeze the bottle so water enters the attached bowl at the top. When  your dog is done, the leftover water falls back into the base. There are also some other types with bowls attached to the bottom, which are great for picky dogs or longer trips. Whatever dog water bottle works for you, they're great for so many adventures—whether it's a short walk, a day at the beach, or whole weekends out on the campground. You won't waste water, it won't be a big ordeal, and you won't have to share your own water bottle with your pooch anymore. Check out our favorites below:

1. Best Option for Smaller Dogs

Amazon

This smaller water bottle is perfect for a short trip or a tiny dog — it can operate with one hand (just press the button for water to come out and release when you're done). It's made of food-grade materials and you do need to hand-wash it, but one five-star reviewer writes: "I cannot imagine using any other travel water bottle for my pups! It is slim, fits perfectly in a bottle slot in my travel bag; it is lightweight and has a loop to put around my wrist when I walk with my pups."

2. Best Option for Large or Multiple Dogs

Amazon

This growler is perfect for dogs who drink a lot—or big dogs and multiple dogs, too. It holds 44 ounces of water, is BPA-free, dishwasher-safe, and even fits into your car's cupholder. It has a patented shut-off valve to ensure there won't be any leaks, and you can squeeze the bottle with one hand to release the water, so it's very easy to use.

3. A Bottle With a Separate Bowl

Amazon

If you have a dog who is picky, you probably already know they're not going to like drinking out of anything else but a bowl. This brilliant 1-liter bottle has a bowl attached to it, so all you need to do is unscrew and let your dog drink to their heart's content. It's vacuum-insulated so your water will stay cold, so you you can even use this for yourself and your pup. It has a handle and a non-slip bottom as well.

4. A Foldable Option

Amazon

lesotec Foldable Water Bottle for Dogs (28oz) - Amazon, $27.97

You can flip the top of this water bottle inward, so if you want to throw it in your car or take it hiking with your puppy, it stays compact and easy to store. Just squeeze the bottle and you'll get water right away, but if you push the lock down, no water will come out—again, another reason it's great for travel. We love that it has a carry strap as well.

5. The Best Option for a Longer Trip

Amazon

lesotec Dog Water Bowl Dispenser (77oz) - Amazon, $35.88
