The folks who run the National Park Service's social media account are pros at delivering cheeky posts with a dose of important information. So, of course, they rolled out the goods for Valentine's Day. This time, instead of parodying a certain blonde pop culture queen, the Instagram post of the day revealed a collection of custom Valentine memes that poke fun at irresponsible tourists and feature notable features throughout the parks, such as bison, cactus, moose, geysers, and more.
- The first featured a cartoon of a person who got too close to a bison and is being pummeled into the air, all set against a cream-colored background with blush-colored accents and a sarcastic message: "You make me feel like I could fly."
- The second has a prickly cactus, alongside this message: "Not a hugger, but for you? Still no."
- Another image features a spiderweb design with a touching note: "I'd walk through a spiderweb for you. Just once. Don't push it."
Within one hour of posting, the post had already accumulated more than 100,000 likes and thousands of comments, many praising the NPS and many still, sending admiration to the social team behind the post. They sure know how to celebrate the day of love. We hope that the geniuses behind the NPS social media accounts are fairly compensated because they are winning the game by achieving exactly what the account should do: iterate safety at the park, disseminate information, and bring smiles to followers' faces.
Sometimes, it is the picture that speaks louder than words, which was definitely the case today. Hence, the social team stuck with a very simple caption, which read: "Happy #ValentinesDay! Love, Your Parks #NationalParks #LoveIsInTheAir #love".
