What's the point of a 24-pound mug? I'm not really sure — it's certainly not a practical piece of gear —- but I kind of want one. I like the idea of having to do a bicep curl every time I take a sip of an unhealthy beverage.
While JawsTec, the 3D printing services provider, says that you will earn your "man card" if you're able to drink out of the cup, I think it's just a cheesy way of showing off their capabilities.
"A lot of people know us for 3D printing, but we also run a CNC machine shop and so we decided to create a product tailored to real mean," a spokesman said in the video.
In promotional materials, the company touts it as the "world's heaviest mug," which may or may not be true. "Your beverages will stay piping hot or refreshingly cold, thanks to its exceptional insulation properties," the company adds.
For the design, the JawsTec heavy mug was constructed out of premium, aerospace-grade stainless steel and it features finger grooves on one side and an American flag carved into the other. It's unclear how many ounces it holds, though. MSRP for the JawsTec Heavy 24 Pound Mug is $299.
