Sam Studee, a professional wake surfer and action sports enthusiast, tested a question I've honestly never thought to ask (but I'm also not from Minnesota): can you surf on a surfboard made of ice?
Studee partnered with Minnesota Ice, which manufactures ice sculptures in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, to craft an ice surfboard. "It's 50 pounds. Hopefully, it stays in one place and doesn't melt super fast," Studee said at the beginning of the challenge.
In the video, Studee mounts his board and gets pulled by a boat in the water. Minus the front-point of the board, it looks like he's surfing on nothing. He explained that he was able to stay on the board by using spikes.
"Well, it was a good run. It didn't last very long, but you can surf ice," Studee said, ending an apparent debate. However, it's unclear how long the board lasted before it broke into two pieces.
Still, the video garnered praise and comments from some big names in the social media influencer world. Fitness influencer and splits master Demi Bagby, who called it: "Sick." Musician Sam McGovern said: "Ice is pretty much just water, so this guy is pretty much just Jesus."
