Who Wins in a Contest Between Strong Men and Strong Fish?

Spoiler alert: the strong men inevitably win. But it's less than graceful.

Well, to be fair, it's not really a contest or a competition since the fish are just swimming in the ocean. They don't know that they're participating in anything.

Anyway, the social media brand BlackTipH invited a group of strong men — JujiMufu, a bodybuilding influencer who does the splits, arm wrestling champion Devon Larratt, and champion powerlifter Layne Norton — to fish for some Goliath grouper. The video is chock full of muscles flexing, veins popping, grunts, screams, and dudes holding cameras as they try to reel in the big fish.

Although it's been making the rounds on Instagram lately — it was shared by BlackTipH on May 8 — it was actually first published in 2019. While everyone technically caught a fish, they also "discovered how difficult it is to catch Goliath groupers using stand-up tackle. All three men had very intense battles with these sea monsters!"

According to the Fisheries section of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Atlantic Goliath Grouper is the largest grouper fish as it can weigh up to 800 pounds and span eight feet. They can typically be found in shallow tropical waters, often in the Gulf of Mexico or Florida Keys.
