How to Carve a Stone Sink in Just 4 Hours

This stone sink looks great and won't take you forever to make.

When most people think of making things out of stone, they imagine days of labor and backbreaking work to turn out even a small item like this stone sink.

Watch as the Samurai Carpenter brings in some power tools and gets the job done quicker than you might think possible.

If you want to build a stone sink of your own, all you'll need is:

  • A laser level.
  • A Sharpie.
  • A big, good looking stone. Some types of stone will work easier than others, so choose wisely.
  • A cutoff saw with a diamond blade.
  • A hammer and a cold chisel.
  • An angle grinder will a diamond wheel.

You'll still need to drill a hole for your drain, but with these tools, you can accomplish the bulk of the work on your stone sink.

Note that the Samurai Carpenter is wearing hearing protection and a respirator while cutting and grinding the stone. You should too. You should also wear eye protection and footwear that's a little more substantial than Crocs.

If you're looking for a way to spruce up your bathroom, give this project a try. You can make the sink and have it installed and operational in less than a day.
