The Ram recall woes continue for the embattled automaker.
This time, 229,000 additional Ram pickups have been recalled for risk related to the vehicles shifting out of park, which can roll prematurely without the driver's foot pressed on the brake or key in the ignition.
Specifically, an electrical problem is caused by high temperatures affecting the brake-transmission shift interlock device. This number has been added to the 1.8-million that were recalled in December 2017 for the same issue, with seven injuries alleged to be attributed to the defect to date.
Models affected include some 2010-2017 RAM 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 pickups. 2017 model year trucks with post-December 31, 2016 production dates are not included.
The manufacturer advised using parking brakes until the issue is resolved.
