Aiming is Useless, and 3 Secrets to Great Pistol Shooting with a Champ

Rob Leathman, the Captain of Team Springfield and champion shooter, shows why aiming is useless unless you learn these secrets of pistol shooting first.

Funker Tactical with Rob Leathman at the helm teaches and demonstrates why aiming is useless unless you learn these shooting secrets first to master the pistol. Watch and learn from one of the world's best.

These tips really can take some of the shooting methods you've learned and turn them on their head. I have in-depth pistol training with the military, and most of what Rob Leathman touches on we applied. Learning how to grip and dry fire the pistol with the minimal amount of movement of the gun is one of his most important tips, followed by range drills that reinforce this complete follow through once you have a rock-solid grip.

Anticipating the shot is sure to add extra movement to the gun and make you less accurate. The points taught here are tactical gun-fighter points and not range niceties. It is about putting rounds on a threat accurately, quickly and almost instinctively. If you want to achieve this, you need professional training, ideally from instructors with good tactical experience.

These are some very interesting points to incorporate into your shooting experience and training and, as always, stay safe and don't get ahead of your skill set. Learn from a professional and apply in a gradual and safe manner in the classroom and on the range.
